Ever wondered how a simple shift in perspective can lead to profound health improvements? Our health and well-being are determined by the intent behind the choices we make. But what exactly is intent? It's more than just setting a goal—it’s the conscious decision to direct our thoughts, actions, and energy toward a specific outcome. Everything is energy, and the energy behind what we do shapes our reality.
In my 30s, I faced severe allergies, asthma, chemical sensitivities, and paralysis on the right side of my body. Doctors told me to accept these conditions, but something inside me refused. I knew I could heal and help others do the same. From that moment, my intent became clear: to age gracefully. Every decision I made was guided by this vision, and I remained open to whatever I needed to learn or change to make it a reality. Even when I faced opposition—from medical professionals, family, and others—my inner resolve never wavered. It wasn't just about physical healing; it was about setting a long-term, holistic intent to recognize and address anything that needed to shift or be added to my life to fulfill that vision.
Intent vs. Goals
Most of us have goals. For example, we might want to lose weight, so we focus on the scale, food plans, and exercise. But often, we don’t think about why we want to lose weight, other than to be thinner or healthier. What if instead of focusing on short-term goals like losing weight, we shift our intent to something greater—like aging gracefully or maintaining long-term health?
This shift moves us beyond temporary goals and creates a lifelong, sustainable wellness plan. When we focus on a deeper intent, like becoming the healthiest version of ourselves, our daily decisions naturally align with that energy. The right foods, exercise, and habits come more easily because they are connected to our intent, not a rigid plan. It’s the difference between striving for a specific number on a scale and embodying a lifetime of healthy living.
Fostering a Greater Good Perspective
Intent is not just about personal gain. In my experience, I've always viewed intent from a "greater good" perspective—meaning that everything I do is aligned with not only my own well-being but also the well-being of those around me. It’s a holistic approach that often requires learning hard lessons along the way, but these lessons contribute to deeper wisdom and understanding.
